Vincent -
The wording of the original values and principles from the Manifesto for Agile Software Development can be slightly modified to address any type of project.
Specific methodologies and the practices within them might be relevant to only specific project types, but even those can be adapted.
For example, pairs programming is obviously a software development-focused practice, but it is just one type of non-solo work which could be applied to any industry.
Coincidentally, I'm just in the process of creating the content for a new one day course my company will be offering early in the new year titled "Applying Agile to Non-Technology Projects".
Kiron
Perhaps you would consider doing a webinar here, based on the course?

That's an interesting idea - I did deliver a similar presentation at a public sector municipality conference here in Toronto and subsequently delivered the same content as a webinar to folks that couldn't attend the conference.
The challenge is that the webinar content itself is IP of my company so without recreating it from the ground up in an independent manner it might cross IP boundaries.

Let me look into this a bit further...

Gentlemen-
I respectfully disagree with your advancement of your belief that your IT processes and fads can be implemented in the Construction Build Environment.
I feel my qualifications allows me to make this statement; I have been managing Construction Projects of all types my whole career. As a President of my General Contracting Firm, and Recently as an Overseas Senior Project Manager and Director, I believe I am the only participant in this dialog qualified to contribute based upon PM experience in my Industry.
I would greatly appreciate any comments contrary to mine, from a Construction/Build Professional!
My Opinion!

These a the values from the IT manifesto
Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
Working software over comprehensive documentation
Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
Responding to change over following a plan
Change “software” for building or construction on the second line
The concept/ideas behind those values can be apply in construction or other industry. They might not be easy to put in place, but not impossible.
The one I found most difficult is the customer collaboration, need both side to collaborate.
Applying it and succeeding at it are two different things. I am yet to see agile fully implemented, successful and (most importantly) an ongoing priority in construction industries, but if someone can demonstrate it I would love to see it. Remember my criteria: "fully implemented (across each industry's sectors), successful, and an ongoing priority" as a framework.
Sante, have you seen many project in IT do it/

Vincent, well for software projects that will be used by the business and then supported by IT, yes there are several. Usually outside of software development, in IT you might see it in things like programs that support ticketing systems for example. But for straight IT infrastructure projects, which is where I have come from, it's predominantly and almost exclusively waterfall.

Unfortunately it will be the intellectual property of our company so the only way to benefit from it would be to come visit us in the Great White North and take the course :-).

haha that would be a major climate change. Saving Changes...
