With the recent discussions on achieving past goals, and looking forward to 2018 on targets and certification goals, I wanted to gain further insight as to what motivates our community members in determining their certification bucket list.

What influences your decision?

Popularity, Interest, Work Requirement, Career Progression? A combination of several?

Tell us your story.

For me a combination of these with varying importance, in a descending order:

Definitely Career Progression is the goal objective of the certification itself. Sometimes you already have the knowledge and experience and it's that paper that helps you reach those career aspirations, something official that says you know what you claimed to know. However, these goals need to be driven by passion. You have to love what you do, in the field that you decide, because in the end, if you are certified to do what you love, then people will start looking for you to do it, creating a circle of virtue.

It is an enhancement factor for next career role, self actualization but it will not guarantee the targeted job title, many folks get the position without certifications.
