Just like there is a Writer's block, where the creativity of a writer is on a stand still for a certain period, similarly there is a Professional's block, where every person at whatever profession level undergoes a period where the career is on a standstill. Person is doing the same kind of work again and again for so long that they don't find any pleasure in their accomplishment. Their career comes to a level where they are not sure what are they doing.
At this juncture, they need the support of their friends (at different profession), peers, seniors, mentors to help them come out of this situation.
Has anyone or have seen anyone go through this experience? And how did you or they come out of the situation?

Seems we all go through such a period at different degrees.
Sometimes it mean a change in career other a change in attitude.

I think you will like it Dianah. Another to look at is "Rebooting Work" by Maynard Webb & Carley Adler. These are references I recommend to some of the folks I mentor or coach. Enjoy!

This is a very good question, Prajna. I have gone through this in the past when I switched from teaching to technology and now I'm in the same situation again, trying to switch from technology to projects.

I think you have to look at past results, feelings and relationships in your life, and think about what you have done in the past that worked? I think you also want to find out what has worked for others and then try a similar approach for yourself. I think most importantly, try to find a mentor who can help you to put you on the right track.

It's that time when you start thinking about switching your role, a different organization or maybe take a break.
