Can someone help me understand the Category C PDUs ? It looks like it is self-directed learning. Does this mean watching YouTube videos from non approved providers or reading a new book etc ? I got lost trying to find further information on this.

According to my understanding, If you read a new book or an article, watched a video, or participated in a discussion, related to project management you can claim the PDU's for these activities under Category C.

Category C used to be the old way of categorizing PDUs. The program has been updated. Here is the link to the handbook.

Category C PDUs now go into General Education and based on the education you are received, you will be able to classify to a particular skill area of the Talent Triangle.

Jay -

I would recommend downloading the CCR handbook (https://www.pmi.org/-/media/pmi/documents/...s-handbook.pdf) as it provides details on the type of evidence required to support a Self-Directed Learning claim.

I believe there are no more categories in the new CCRS and as my colleagues mentioned, those PDU's will go to General Education which I assume the following falls under it:

1- Informal Learning: Structured discussions with other professionals or mentors.
2- Read: Books, articles, blogs.
3- Online or Digital Media: Pre-recorded Webinars, Podcasts, digital recordings.

Hope this helps.

Sante,

Excellent question, would time put in ProjectManagement.com could be put in sélection learning or another category for PDUs.

Not that I need them, I have much more then needed.

Well according to PMI's own definition, it should count. "structured conversations" and "articles" etc. are all over PM.com

Just seems weird to me to claim PDU's for these forum discussions. But as they say, "it's in the book".
