George -

Here's ATDD from the Agile Practice Guide: "A method of collaboratively creating acceptance test criteria that are used to create acceptance tests before delivery begins."

I would have defined it as a good development practice which reduces gold-plating and increases quality by developing acceptance tests first and then developing only as much of the solution as is required to pass those acceptance tests.

I will present PERT - Program Evaluation & Review Technique which as per Wikipedia is "a method of analyzing the tasks involved in completing a given project, especially the time needed to complete each task, and to identify the minimum time needed to complete the total project."

Of course, the 5th edition of the PMBOK Guide took a different view focused purely on the use of the PERT formula: "A technique for estimating that applies a weighted average of optimistic, pessimistic, and most likely estimates when there is uncertainty with the individual activity estimates." Still, that's better than the 6th edition which eliminated PERT!

My favorite non-acronym is Gantt - I'm always amused when I see someone capitalize all the letters in it or try to come up with "what it stands for". Henry Gantt must be revolving at high speed in his grave whenever that happens!

BDD - Behavior Driven Development
A system design and validation practice that uses test-first principles and English-like scripts.

Evo - Evolutionary Value Delivery
Openly credited as the first agile method that contains a specific component no other methods have: the focus on delivering multiple measurable value requirements to stakeholders.

SBE Specification By Example
A collaborative approach to defining requirements and business-oriented functional tests for software products based on capturing and illustrating requirements using realistic examples instead of abstract statements.

PIER is a new term for me. This what I found over net:
"ProjectPier is a free, open-source application for managing tasks, teams and projects through an intuitive web interface. It is helpful in getting organizations to communicate, collaborate and get things done efficiently. "

PIER: Post Implementation Evaluation Report (PIER)

Documents the successes and failures of the project. It provides a historical record of the planned and actual budget and schedule. Other selected metrics on the project can also be collected based upon state organization procedures. The report also contains recommendations for other projects of similar size and scope.

PIER is not a PMBoK term.

Drake, thank you for a clear definition of each role. I've seen heated debates over those roles! Are those definitions your opinion? Or did you find them in a book? I'd like to have the proper citation. Thanks, Jim
