project environment and risks in medical clinical trials projects

Hello everyone. I am interested to understand better the environment of the clinical trials projects, where a certain drug is tested worldwide through various clinics. Can anyone describe (1) stages of the project; (2) the stakeholders involved and (3) a couple of the most significant risks each such stakeholder is prone to? Thank you.
