In my experience, relationships are key in getting things done at work. Especially as PM we don't have a direct authority over our team members. Without relationships, it becomes too difficult. What is your experience ?

Relationship building is key and one of the most important things which relates to communication. On the other hand, not sure what you mean by you do not have full control over your team, but in case you do, you still need them to respect and trust you and there are so many things you can do as a PM to make this happen.

Unsuccesful relationships with stakeholders can be detrimental for projects.

Good comments from the group.

Relationship building with stakeholders is very important. Earn their respect by being a transparent project manager.

Alok,

The PM should work at maintaining or improving relationship with all stakeholders. That is not an easy task many things are at play, different for all stakeholders.
