A charter's primary purpose is to provide the authorization for a PM to go forth and use organizational resources to deliver a project. As such, it can be as simple as a few paragraphs on a single page so long as it clearly articulates the purpose (the "why") behind the project, who the sponsor is and who the PM is. Beyond that, it can certainly include other info such as a high-level understanding of scope & approach to deliver that scope, known constraints, a list of other key stakeholders and starting assumptions & risks.

I have seen a couple of project charters containing SWOT and PESTLE analysis, could this per chance be considered inappropriate of a Project Charter content?

There is nothing "inappropriate" for a Charter - it really comes down to organization PM standards and what is deemed to be of value by stakeholders at this stage of a project and that the PM and team are willing to stand behind.
