What do you do when some team members just don't get on?

No matter how hard you try, they just seem to clash.

Assuming normal team building and conflict resolution techniques have failed to measurably improve things, this is now a risk management exercise.

What's unfortunate is if the PM doesn't have the authority to remove one or the other team member and doesn't get the support from the sponsor or the functional managers to do so.

I've seen a project team go all the way up to Speed Leas's Level 5 World War with everyone involved regretting that the right step hadn't been taken much earlier.

That might equate to DEFCON 1 Kiron.

Sante, based on my experience the best option would be to replace the team member. I had similar experience in one of my project, and I told the individual to find a new job instead of continuing in the project.
I agree with my colleagues here.
