I did a construction (well large fit-out) project several years ago and everything went according to plan. The budget, scope and schedule were all pretty much on point. Until handover day, when the customer said "what is this crap?". Apparently, the color scheme was totally different to what they wanted, and their middle-man had interpreted the wrong scheme while the customer was overseas.

Yes! We decided to go hybrid, so we had requirements, but our execution was incremental. After our first 4 week sprint, in the demo, it was determined that although we all had agreed on what was required, our implementation was completely wrong (go figure). Over the next few sprints, we were able to realign.

The power of incremental deliveries with inspect and adapt!

Increasing the customer engagement seems to have been not done well on this project Sante :-)

I had an experience like this before and it was a lesson learned.

True Rami, in this case, the proxy was the acting customer while the real customer was away. One of those "slip through the gaps" issues.

Construction is often the place where Customer don't engage sufficiently or don't know how. The User is not consulted by the Customer. Goal for the User and the Customer are not align!
