I have noticed that many PMP's seem to struggle with collecting the necessary PDUs. I have not, but for the sake of others I thought I would ask this question.

For myself, I have gained PDUs from the following:
- ProjectManagement.com webinars (at least half come from this)
- Paid training (some of this is from the training for the next certification)
- Conferences (I usually attend one or two a year)
- Online conferences offered on ProjectManagement.com (like PMXPO, Talent Mgt, etc)
- Local chapter offerings (attended a PM Saturday)
- Training offered through company (we have extensive online training)
- Lynda.com (just started using this resource that I can access for free through our library)

I know there are many other options, but this is my path. Please share your own path for the others who may be struggling a bit.

Hi,

work experience, reading, webinars & chapter conferences are best.
for example you can claim 8PDU's for work experience in the 3 year cycle.
1 hour of self directed learning (including reading) is 1 PDU.

details of the max in each category can be found in the CCR handbook at the following link;

https://www.pmi.org/-/media/pmi/documents/...ts-handbook.pdf

sources of on demand webinars are linked below;

https://www.projectmanagement.com/Webinars...ainOnDemand.cfm

https://managementhelp.org/

Thank you for letting me know about a few additional sites.

Oh, and don't forget about PMUniversity. The classes are static, but in looking at the number of people who have earned a NOD from any of these classes, the highest number was 280. There are 11 PDUs waiting for you at https://www.projectmanagement.com/PMuniversity/ . And you get badges :)

Thank you, Dinah, for sharing such a detailed and practical list of resources for earning PDUs—this post is incredibly helpful for anyone navigating the sometimes overwhelming world of PDU collection! I especially appreciate the inclusion of free resources like Lynda.com via the library and local chapter events, as not everyone has access to paid training options.

Another excellent way to earn PDUs while gaining real-world insights is through executive education programs. These not only help fulfill PDU requirements but also provide actionable strategies to enhance leadership and management skills. I’ve found that institutions like the Global Executive Education Program offer robust courses tailored to professionals aiming to elevate their expertise while earning credits. These programs are particularly valuable for those balancing demanding careers with professional development goals.

I’d love to hear from others who have tried similar approaches or have additional recommendations. Let’s keep this thread a great resource for PMP professionals!

Dinah,

I use to get most PDUs from local chapter , practice and corporate training. Now an independent consultant I found that here at PM.com is the easy way. I have some other source of PDUs Agile Tour and Agile Montreal Board of director that I don't really report. Currently in the first year of a cycle I have already most of the PDUs I need. That is without reporting non automatic registered PDUs.

I renewed my certification in January of this year. Generally, I have more PDUs than I need. They come from the following categories:

Under Training and Courses:
~ Webinars provided by projectmanagement.com (I'm thankful for these!)
~ Local conferences

Under Organization Meetings
~ Attending my local chapter meetings of PMI. I try to make this a priority on my calendar.

Under "Giving Back"
~ Volunteering through my local chapter of PMI, including volunteer teaching a module to students studying for the PMP exam

Working as a Practitioner:
~ Sometimes a volunteer project; sometimes a paid project

In this current cycle, I'd like to earn some PDUs with creating content.
