I would like to understand/get some thoughts on updating PMP application, it was a challenge for me as it got rejected initially, this time, i would want to be perfect in there.

When they rejected it, did they give you feedback on what you needed to do?

I don't know of any pre-checks besides reading through the application and verifying that you have completed everything as requested.

For my first application I received some initial guidance from an existing PMP and for my last application, I had someone read through it for me.

I have also read through and helped update a friend's application after she was rejected.

Naga, rejected as in you were audited and then it failed, or it was rejected even without an audit? One thing I can suggest (provided you have the basic requirements such as hours in the profession) is to look at the PMP exam content outline document. There you will find the tasks and terminology PMI likes to hear when you fill out the summary of your projects.

I agree with Dinah. Normally, they mention the basis for their rejection so you should take those reasons as a guide for your pre-checks.

If an application is rejected then the applicant probably did not meet the requirements. One area of challenge for a lot of people is the narration of their project experience in the domain areas using PMI jargon in less than 550 characters. The system instantly reject the application when the character limit is exceeded, same also when your reported experience hours dose not sync with the project duration. The system may not allow an application go further at that level otherwise I certainly think that PMI will normally give reason for rejecting any application that got through Submit.

I think 550 characters is too short. Even more reason to use the correct tasks and terminology.

Please ensure that you don;t have overlapping project dates or experience, as it could be one of the reason for rejection.
