Large Scale Microsoft Domain Consolidation David Lang Technical Director| U.S. Navy Leesburg, Va, USA I am currently working on consolidating 45 Active Directory domains from multiple forests managed by multiple organizations with different operational needs. The target from management is to consolidate to one centrally managed domain to facilitate data access across the enterprise, but I'm thinking there may be a better answer given the complexity and global reach of the enterprise. My actual work place have an inherent complexity because the highly distribution around the world. Key was to work with the right people mainly SMEs (subject matter experts) on the field. When I was in charge of the whole program AD was a quit new product including for Microsoft. Because the time frame we had we use some agile practices like incremental-iterative life cycle model and to consider the schedule based on domain consolidation not on following activities at detail level.
