In my understanding, a PMP certified can train others even if he/she is not part of a PMI chapter. Is that correct and what are other requirements to become a PMP trainer? Saving Changes...
There is no specific guidelines from PMI till now, in our organization we conducted few voluntary PMP prep sessions to
for aspirants and PMI accepts it if tranings are given by PMP certified people. I am also giving training in such sessions.
But as I know recently PMI is working on changing this acceptance criteria and the exam Prep sessions must be from REP.
Which means that the trainings given by REP will only be accepted for certification exam (35 PDUs)
The training given may be accepted by PMI for PDU claim to maintain the certificate.
Hope this info is helpful.
I will get back in case any new info received.
Hi, any reference or updates on the fact that 35 contact hours will be accepted only if delivered by a REP? Saving Changes...

Dear Fehaid,
No, you need to be registered REP from PMI. Its similar like you need a membership from them as a trainer. Apart from that there are many other formalities you need to fulfil like one year experience in coaching PMP and registered company. Saving Changes...

I do a lot of mentoring free of charge, but I do not issue any 35 contact hours certs.
You need a training company to be registered and recognized by PMI, and you operate under that umbrella.
Dear Kevin,
Really appreciate your thoughts of sharing knowledge to society free of cost as this is one way to keep our knowledge updated too while serving society.
Good job!

That whole world of PM training changed this year, so definitely look into all the details on PMI's Training Partner program. I don't think you have to get it, but it seems like that is where things are heading. It will be interesting how this all plays out. I too am a PM trainer, so I am looking into all of this as well. Only ATPs/ATP Instructors are allowed to train PMP using the original and central PMI material.
Of course others (no ATPs) can give PM training and maybe even PMP prep training, but they are not allowed to promote it as an "officiial PMP Training". Saving Changes...
