In my understanding, a PMP certified can train others even if he/she is not part of a PMI chapter. Is that correct and what are other requirements to become a PMP trainer?

I do a lot of mentoring free of charge, but I do not issue any 35 contact hours certs.

You need a training company to be registered and recognized by PMI, and you operate under that umbrella.

Amir you need to be registered as REP with PMI only registered education provider can provide accepted hours required for the exam or maintain PDU
But to teach others for PMP exam with out providing hours to train you really don't have to be PMP. YES AMIR You heard me right

I'm interested in teaching PMP online classes so was wondering do I have to R.E.P but your answer gave me clarity that I don't need R.E.P. I can teach or mentor PMP aspirants with R.E.P, only thing I can't provide 35 PDU's.
Thanks for clarity

Yes you have to register with PMI as REP in order to issue 35 credit hours as PMI only authenticate if you are register. I agreed you can train PMP course without being a PMP. Kevin is so right, by teaching is the way to keep yourself updated and learn more.

You can train new practitioners and candidates and they can still submit the contact hours for this training but it is up to PMI whether they will approve those hours or not. If you are an REP then your hors will be approved automatically, thats the only difference.

Dear Fehaid,
No, you need to be registered REP from PMI. Its similar like you need a membership from them as a trainer. Apart from that there are many other formalities you need to fulfil like one year experience in coaching PMP and registered company.
