Overview
Each year, PMI’s ‘Pulse of the Profession” Reports describe the money lost because of failed projects. In 2016, for example, it showed $122 million was lost for every $1 billion spent – a large number. In a previous webinar I spoke about the program and project manager’s leadership role to reverse this trend. This webinar goes further and focuses on a solution – one that requires a major culture change with guidelines on its implementation.
Whether one works in a silo-driven or project-oriented organization, or is a coordinator or a full-time manager, there are many obstacles to overcome. The key is an integrated approach – no longer can the business development staff work in isolation without active involvement from the start by program and project managers. Further, knowledge management or knowledge transfer cannot be an afterthought for it to be successful, and it must be incorporated from the beginning.
The webinar concludes with guidelines to implement this approach in your organization. Making these changes is the way to help overcome these dismal statistics and show progress as we do so.
