There are hundreds of different Agile Certifications from competing organizations. Even the authors of the Scrum Framework decided to have separate certifications, and later to create various levels. Due to its popularity, the Scrum Master role transcended the Scrum Framework and is now included in many other frameworks - even when those frameworks don't include a Scrum team.

A 2-3 day course won't necessarily provide a professional with the practical experience and knowledge needed to excel in a particular role. Agile, including Scrum, is an empirical approach which requires experience outside of the classroom to master. While training is a solid place to start in one’s Agile journey, it is hard to believe that anyone can become a good Product Owner, Scrum Master, Value Stream Consultant, Trainer, or Coach in less than one year. True professional growth occurs in the real world application of the knowledge obtained through certification.

This webinar is a cost/benefit analysis of how Agile Certifications can help project delivery, offering examples of when a certification helps and what a Project Manager should look for when choosing a certification.
