A prioritization matrix is a 2×2 matrix designed to help you discern which tasks/projects are “Critical and Urgent,” so you can focus on what matters most. Prioritization matrices can be used by:
1. Crucial, urgent (do right now) 2. Crucial, not urgent (do soon, execute a task plan) 3. Not crucial, urgent (delegate) 4. Not crucial, not urgent (delete, don't do)
A Prioritization Matrix is useful to view and update evaluation scores for all projects and programs within the portfolio. Use the evaluation scores to prioritize and select the right projects or programs for your organization to pursue based on quantitative data. Before you can view your portfolio's prioritization matrix, you must create evaluation categories and rank your projects or programs against them.
