In My Shoes Follow-Up — Breaking Barriers: Women in Project Management
Earlier this year, we held a webinar as part of the In My Shoes: Community Perspectives series. We presented around our theme of breaking barriers for women in project management, as well as other core topics that were pressing the audience.
From the beginning of our webinar, we noticed our topic was very popular, since our Q&A chat was filling up just minutes after we started it. To meet the demand, we tried to answer these questions in parallel to our discussion.
Having three project managers and leaders who come from different backgrounds and countries gave a unique perspective on the issues and challenges that PMs are facing today. It was great to see such active participation from the group.
The main objective of this webinar was to provide best practices and advice to overcome the barriers we encounter in our daily work as female project managers. We aimed to make the webinar atmosphere harmonious and hopeful so that the audience could receive the positiveness in our messages.
The topics ranged from creating a level playing field for our teams to be able to excel, to how we can encourage and support all of our teams to work. We also discussed the role that everyone plays—regardless of gender—in creating environments where we can all succeed; and the need to bring your most authentic self to work and build each other up, rather than
