Running a Governance Meeting
The governance committee should exist to help the project by keeping the project manager accountable and providing oversight to the project. In order for this to happen, the project manager should be meeting regularly with the governance committee. These governance meetings can help push a project forward or they can create stumbling blocks for the whole project team. The project manager should be able to take charge and run the meeting in a manner that gives everyone the opportunity to aid the project.
There are no secret handshakes or ceremonies, and it should not be a mystery to the project team. Instead, the governance meetings should focus on the project and what needs to be done. In order to accomplish this, the project manager should work toward establishing a solid relationship with the governance committee that is based on trust and commitment to the project. Using the following principles, the project manager can facilitate productive meetings that will help out everyone on the project and the governance committee.
Preparation
