Green PM: How Have Things Changed?
It has been three years since my article “The Green Grade: How Green Should Your PM Practices Be?” and it seems like a good time to revisit the subject to see how Green PM has evolved since 2012--and to provide you with a quick way to learn more.
To begin with, there are a number of websites focused on promoting Green PM practices, including:
- earthpm.com
- People, Planet, Profits & Projects blog by EarthPM on ProjectsAtWork.com
- greenprojectmanagement.org
- green-pm.com
- green-project-management- on linkedin.com
- projectgreen-a2z.com
- greenpm.co.uk
Green-pm.com provides a good working definition of Green PM as follows:
“Green project management is a model where we think green throughout our project and make decisions that take into account the impact on the environment--if any. It is a way to ingrain ‘greenthink’ into every project management process.
The point about green project management is not that we make every decision in favor of the one that is most environmentally friendly. The point is that we start to take the environment into account instead of ignoring it.”
So what has changed since 2012? First of all, you can now get Green PM certified through greenprojectmanagement.org. Certifications from this organization come in three levels:
- Certified Green
