The Scale of Stakeholders
Abstract
This paper aims to develop a new model that collects and measures all stakeholders' properties and features that directly affect projects. This new model puts factors—stakeholder taxonomy, conflict tendency, engagement level, influence and impact levels, and occurrence conflict—on a scale called The Scale of Stakeholders (SOS). SOS is based on a theoretical foundation of the study, utilizing the ground theory.
Introduction
The concept of stakeholder management is gradually expanding. Although stakeholder management is substantial, this Knowledge Area is still relatively new and was added to A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) – Fifth Edition in 2013. Project Management Institute (PMI) identified stakeholders as "the people, groups, or organizations that could impact or be impacted by a decision, activity, or outcome of the project,” (Project Management Institute, 2013). The project is like a soccer match; the stakeholders work together in the project to overcome problems and risks like a strong team if they want to win. Furthermore, the project manager is like the coach in the match; he has to have a good map, which is built according to the features and properties of each player in his game.
