The work environment today is far different from anything we have faced before. Change is occurring faster—and is nearly continuous. The changes taking place are by far much more impactful than what we have previously seen.

A growing number of professionals must recognize that it is necessary for us to understand a core driver for this period of change: multiple technologies, which are evolving and bring with them unique capabilities.

When some of these technologies are put to use, they generate disturbing means to many. While the development of new technologies and the implementation of emerging technologies provide us with unique capabilities, the overall disruptive challenge is being driven by something far different.

Combined, all of this means that project managers will require high-level knowledge of a broad set of topics. This article identifies one of them.

The Changing Expectations of Stakeholders
Driving the disruptive situation is the continued evolution of operational demands and expectations. This is being created by an overarching group of influences from a broadening set of stakeholders. Meeting these expanding stakeholder expectations is essential.
