Dr. Deepa Bhide, PMP is a physician and currently an independent healthcare IT and project management consultant. This is Part 4 of an ongoing interview series where I talk with Dr. N from ABC Hospital* in Hyderabad, India. Dr. N spearheads an artificial intelligence project for the facility.

Part 1 had a general overview of the stakeholders, and Part 2 shared more details of key stakeholders, such as the medical team and patients. Part 3 discussed the role of regulatory agencies involved in AI projects for the hospital. In Part 4, we will talk about the technical components involved in this project.

Deepa: As a physician, how involved were you in the technical components of the project? For example, knowing the product features or types of databases, etc.

Dr. N: That’s a good question. As a medical professional, and perhaps like most of us, I wasn’t conversant with the technical aspects of AI. This project allowed me and my team to get familiar with this emerging technology.

Deepa: That’s good to know. Were you anxious? I am curious how you and your team work with the technical experts.

Dr. N: Yes! The technical jargon was alien, and at the beginning, the requirements from the technical team were challenging to understand. We were lucky to have Joe*, a data scientist and an exceptional partner in this project. Joe’s team handles the technical aspects, and we are working closely together. Here is Joe!
