I have barely recovered from switching to agile, and now there is a new approach to projects: WoW, or “Ways of Working.” Is this really an advantage, or is this just another way to keep us constantly disrupted in the way we do projects? With all of the confusion and turmoil brought about by the pandemic, do we really need yet another change in the way we do projects?
A. Most projects should be done by the standard types of PM processes, which are also called traditional, sequential, prescriptive, predictive and waterfall. By planning early for the cost and time it will take to deliver the end product, a company is able to receive the best return on investment.
B. With newer and more innovative projects, such as websites and other IT-related projects, it’s important to be able to change quickly. Customers may change their minds—or new developments in the industry may mean that without a very flexible plan for our project, we can’t deliver what would be desirable and workable for the customer. This is why agile is the best company approach to creating value.
