I use the Southwest Airlines Communications Protocol, that is a matrix, that displays the 6-7 media channels and the four types of information being shared. Emotional, Dynamic, Relationship Building, Resolving Conflict. Kudos to Herb Kelleher, former CEO of SWA!

There is an up and coming collaboration website you should check out, it's call Boardthing and lets you do online collaboration with "cards" just like post-it notes on the wall. Best part, team members can contribute their ideas anonymously. Go check it out:

The question I received was: "How do you prefer collaborating with team members (virtually, in person, via email only, phone, etc.)?

I do all but most prefer to have face to fac communications with team members

Face to Face is best. Where distance is involved WebEx or Video Conferencing seems to be a good alternative where the systems are in place.

Lovely website. Great contents about Project Management.
Really you will feel refresh by visiting this website.

Question was: How do you prefer to interact with team members.

The best way is face to face, and in person. You get over 700 visual clues about communicating with someone when you are ‘in person’ versus on the phone or via email. Second best way is via teleconference - because you can see their reactions to the communication. Last is non face to face interactions - email, text...etc.

I prefer face-to-face, virtual or phone; very excited about the new site!

Question: What is your preferred method of project collaboration?

Response: Whenever possible I prefer face to face meetings. Face to face is usually more productive as it's easier to communicate in person and helps assure the message is clearly shared. Too much subtlety and tone can be lost on email messages. In addition it is easier to build a solid rapport with project members if you meet together in person.

I prefer face to face collaboration because you are able to read the person and get immediate feedback.
Congratulations on the new website.

How do you prefer collaborating with team members (virtually, in person, via email only, phone, etc.)?

I prefer to collaborate in person. This allows everyone in the room to communicate with words and body language. "...communication is only 7% verbal..."

However, in my corporate environment, I have team members in 5 provinces, therefore virtual collaboration is the norm. As a result it is extremely important to ensure the intent of the message is clearly articulated either verbally or written (email, messaging, etc)

Question: How do you prefer collaborating with team members (virtually, in person, via email only, phone, etc.)?

Answer: My team is globally located with a 4 hour window of opportunity (schedule overlap) in the morning. The preferred method of collaboration is both in-person and virtual and these have a minimum notice of 24hrs due to the time difference. The tools of choice are WEBEX/Conf Bridge, local conference room projection in each location and I project my desktop and/or pass the presentation control so others can see notes as they are written which quickly exposes language and cultural understanding errors while the ideas are in flight (virtually real-time). This method has worked great for me for the past 8 years.

I also
REGULARLY USE
1) Chat to see availability and quick Q&A or before I make a phone call
2) E-mail for longer Q&A or docs need sent for immediate use.
3) SharePoint for longer timeframes and/or multiple reviews and feedback are required.
SELDOM USE voice mail, phone, fax
