As much as I will miss the the COPs, I am looking forward to projectmanagement.com. Hope they will begin to send out confirmations with an outlook invite. Hate to go to all the trouble to register than miss the event because there was no confirmation with a outlook invite.

Collaborating with team members is always easier in person, but when some or all of them are not present or are working remotely, I always ensure that they are included as much as possible in all relevant communications.

Face to face is best, but when that's not available I prefer to use a virtual tool that provides some kind of visual - such as WebEx. It helps when we can all see the same thing.

Reference Bill Darrow's Question: How do you prefer collaborating with team members (virtually, in person, via email only, phone, etc.)?
Depends on the situation. I worked virtually (globally) for 14 years with HP but am now in office setting again (with another company) almost within walking distance. As much as I liked the convenience, privacy and quiet workspace...it is nice to be back with people again. There are trade-offs for each. In today''s works it is probably best to be flexibile to the situation.

I look forward to exploring the new Project Management website for PMI.
Question: How do you prefer collaborating with team members (virtually, in person, via email only, phone, etc.)?
For me, it depends on the team and their dynamic. There have been some teams that have worked best by collaborating virtually and over the phone. There have been others that haven't been as comfortable and virtual or phone collaboration was much less effective. I personally prefer to meet in person a few times especially at first and then collaboratively work virtually or over the phone until the need to have us all together resurfaces.

My question was How do you prefer collaborating with team members (virtually, in person, via email only, phone, etc.)?. I would say "all of the above" with a preference for "in person" whenever possible. When one considers how much of the message is lost when non-verbals cannot be observed or when tone and inflection are observable (i.e., email), in person is simply the best choice.
Face-to-Face in order to see expressions

...How do I prefer to collaborate...?
I like to use all of the tools in my "tool-belt"! One of my best friends is a carpenter, who is always saying, "...Use the right toll for the job!
I am primarily managing multiple projects on the client site and have the opportunity to schedule face to face meetings with the client-side teams while my team works primarily remotely. It is an interesting and rewarding role.
I follow-up each face to face by distributing meeting notes where I reiterate what was discussed/what decisions were made/what action items came out of that meeting and who is responsible along with a deadline for completion for the activity. I also follow-up phone calls with emails in the same manner to confirm and leave a record of the discussion. All of these go into the project's virtual folder for later review as needed. It goes along way to be able to cut & paste and supply a date for future correspondence.

My Question - "How do you prefer collaborating with team members (virtually, in person, via email only, phone, etc.)?
It depends on the situation and the location of the team members. If at all possible, I would like to meet face-to-face.

Actually you develop great listening skills working virually. Sometimes, face-to-face is too much feedback ...

My preferred mode is face-to-face. However, as a virtual PM - the virtual approach is it.
As the situation permits. I prefer face to face, followed by phone, IM chat, email.

The question I received was: "How do you prefer collaborating with team members (virtually, in person, via email only, phone, etc.)?
Though I prefer in person, there could be circumstances were one means of collaborating and communicating would stand out than other modes. As a Project Manager, identifying and utilizing the most appropriate mode for the success of the project is vital and critical

I like the new website and the Open House! Good luck!
I think the best way to collaborate is Face to Face since body language adds a greater dimension to the interaction.
