I prefer to meet face-to-face at the beginning of the project/work. Once we develop a working relationship virtual, online communication including email works fine. But if issues come up in the relationship, I prefer meeting face-to-face or talking directly to clear up mis-communications prior to proceeding.

There are pros and cons to each and it depends on several factors including but not limited to: geographical location of the team, number of projects you are managing, number of meetings scheduled back to back, and knowing your audience. Regardless of my personal preference, the most important factor is knowing your audience and being flexible enough to adjust methods in order to maximize success.

How do you prefer collaborating with team members (virtually, in person, via email only, phone, etc.)?
I prefer in person but when you have a dispersed geographical team, Virtual is the best method.

My question was "How do you prefer collaborating with team members (virtually, in person, via email only, phone, etc.)?"
Face-to-face collaboration is almost always best, if time and logistics allow.

Wish Project Management.com all the best. I am looking forward to collaborate and interact with all.

I don't have a particular preference. I think it depends upon what it is you are working on and the circumstances of your project. Each type of communication vehicle has it's pros and cons and you have to be aware of them going in to make sure you make the most efficient use of the medium.
The mode of collaboration depends on situation, geographical location, criticality of the event etc. I like the old fashioned face-to-face way. But while dealing with team members across the globe, that is not always possible. Fortunately technology has helped bridge the geographical distance a lot. Collaboration tools like SharePoint are helpful. Virtual meeting, video conference are great tools for collaboration. There are great virtual meeting tools which help share desktop or whiteboard and team members can work together to build a plan/design etc. I use all of the above for collaboration.

Although in-person may be ideal, I understand that this is not always feasible. Therefore, the method that is most effective and feasible in achieving the objectives/deliverables would be my next choice and would depend on the team member(s).

I believe that in person is the best method, but not always feasible. While e-mail can be a good method for certain things such as action lists, notes, etc., phone call or video conference is the next best alternative to in person for most interactions. shared workspaces for document access/storage also helps facilitate collaboration.

My preference is virtually. But with lots of different personality types, I'm open to all methods. Tech people I work with seem to prefer face-to-face.
Craig Abrams

Collaborating may take several forms of communication but the main objective is to get the information communicated properly and accurately. Face to face is best, if feasible.
