As an "accidental" project manager, it's very satisfying to contribute to the project management community online with anecdotes and stories I've picked up from my own experience. I hope you enjoy our daily conversation.

I've mentioned before that I had been in the workforce for a number of years before I ever used a PC. That's not to say I didn't have a monitor and keyboard on my desk—they were simply connected to the mini-computer housed in a room about he size of a couple of large cubicles. I even remember some computer executives who back then were bold enough to suggest that the PC was a fad and there was no reason to own one.

Including the notebooks my wife and I use for work, we now have three in our home.

My first personal computer was a Mac Classic. And, I'm sure there will be a lot of these types of stories over the coming weeks. With that said, I have to admit that I have been a fan from the very start. By comparison, my MacBook Pro is an exponential improvement over the old Classic, but my Mac (in one form or another) has been a pretty familiar friend for many, many years. I could say the same thing about my first iPod, my first iPhone and every other Apple-influenced device we all use and I take for granted.

Steve Jobs was a visionary and his influence on consumer electronics and personal computing will be missed.

I didn't know Steve Jobs. We'd never met—but I have felt his influence in how I get my work done, how I enjoy the music I love, and how I communicate with my family and friends (from wherever I am in the world) for a long time. He made the world a little smaller and information a little more accessible for me.

Rest in peace Mr. Jobs.

Weird, but more of coincidental to me.

I have played my first computer game, Karateka, on a classic Apple my cousin own. I have never owned an Apple. I have never owned any iPhone or iPad so far, yet I have been playing Angry Bird on my colleague's iPad.

Not that I don't like Apple's products, it is just that I have never had any urge to own one. Yet, I am surrounded by people that have iWhatever...

Apple's products are ubiquitous. And yes Mr. Jobs, you definitely have left a ding in the world. You'll be missed...
