Situation: You Can't Afford WEBEX...
The folks at Zoho produce all sorts of really simple, really useful widgets that strike at the heart of what you're really trying to get done. Zoho Meeting is currently in beta, but I can't wait for it to go into production. It can be used in a variety of ways, but the obvious use is as a WEBEX replacement. It doesnt require a download if you use the flash version and I particularly love the integration with their other products and MS Office.
Disclaimer: I have not tried this product personally yet, but I'll update this posting once I have. |

Situation: You Don't Know the Difference Between the Apollo Platform, Space Program or Creed...
The long awaited Apollo (a platform for building desktop applications using web technologies) is being rolled out this week. It's one of those "big buzz" technologies that everyone is talking about, running web technology-based applications locally. A quick example of it is Your Minis, a widget application built using Apollo. This took me 2 minutes to set up...

Situation: You Need A Basic Lesson on Wikis Inside the Firewall...
Here are some thoughts around when, where, and why wikis are used. I still meet people every week who are unfamiliar with wikis in general - even more who are have never heard of them as business tools. If you're still a bit foggy on the subject, this BusinessWeek:CEO's Guide to Corporate Wikis Podcast isn't a bad thing to listen to while you work. |

| Situation: You Need an Online Hand With Everyday Travel Concerns
You want a cheap seat
Should you buy your tickets now or later? Farecast claims it can tell you whether the fares will go up or down - with a 75% accuracy rate.
But you want it to be a good seat
Which plane will allow you to plug in your laptop during that long flight? Is that seat going ot give me enough legroom? Check out Seatguru
And if you can't send your luggage ahead
You want to at least travel light
And bring cash in the right currency
That's how many rupees?!?!? Check out Oanda for accurate currency conversions.
Then when you are delayed you can have fun
If you get stuck in a strange city for a few hours, check out Wikiair to see what your alternatives are to laying across a matching set of uncomfortable chairs.
And hopefully not get sick
If you drink the water or get sick during your wild layover, check out Yelp to find the nearest doctor.
Have a great trip! |
