Testing a software application is a comprehensive activity which should be approached with as much thorough planning and attention to detail as any development activity. Never deploy a new system without thoroughly testing it at the unit, integration, system, performance, regression and user acceptability level.  Define test plans, procedures, cases, input data, expected outcomes, traceability requirements and other key elements for every test and test cycle. Above all, ensure that you have accounted for testing time, trained testing resources and time to make the corrections in your planned development schedule.  Overwhelmed? Here's a checklist that can keep you focused on your project's testing needs.
