Checklist
Although performance management solutions should not be viewed as one-size-fits-all, there are a number of core components and activities that should be considered to establish a solid foundation for effective performance management. This checklist is intended to help both managers and employees work together to plan and carry out the entire performance management process, from planning performance, through to performance appraisal and problem solving.
This checklist is intended to be used with other Performance Management Program documents that will explain the steps in carrying out performance management so that it helps the company, the manager and the employee. Use this three-part checklist [Part 1, Performance Management Planning (for both Supervisor and Staff Member to be evaluated); Part 2, Performance Management Process, and Part 3, Performance Management Components] when evaluating solutions to build the right foundation for your organization.
The component-based nature of this document makes it easily customizable for any level of manager or employee. The dual evaluation at the beginning (by both the manager and the employee) is a great way to get a feel for the overall situation from both points of view, so everyone is starting on the same page. This particular aspect of the document can help you avoid misunderstandings from the outset of this process and save you a lot of time and needless stress.
