My organization is a third party vendor that customizes off-the-shelf software for clients. The PMs within our organization have recently been notified we will be expected to own Change Management within our organization. We are a small shop, so I understand the need to lean in and step up. However, outside of normal change processes within a project (documenting out of scope requests, change requests, change orders, impact to timeline, etc) I don't have much experience in the world of "Change Management" I am reaching out to this group to see if you guys can recommend websites, doco, white pages, etc. to help me understand and learn Change Management and what I can start doing immediately to implement this additional responsibility. If you want a view of how to combine PM and CM, I recommend the book 'The Next Evolution - Enhancing and Unifying Project and Change Management' by Thomas Luke Jarocki. I also recommend that your PM and CM be different people.
APMG's book - 'The Effective Change Manager's Handbook' - provides a short comparison of PM vs CM (p.348) that reinforces the separate roles of PM and CM, as well as an overview on CM tools and theories throughout the book. Saving Changes...
