Has anyone completed a Windows 10 Migration project?
Network:10

I will be starting a major enterprise migration from Windows 7 to Windows 10 in a healthcare setting. Does any one have a sample plan or timeline from a similar project? And any lessons learned to share?

Thank you

I was not part of our (past) organization's migration project. While you wait for others to chime in, I found this out there

I'm sure there are others, but something to get you started.

Thanks Andrew. I saw this but did not know the vendor and so did not want to download from an unfamiliar site. Have you used them before?
Thanks!

Hi Catherine, We are deploying to 83,000 Windows 7 devices over the next two years. Let me know your direct email and I'll send you our template.

Hi Catherine! I was really hoping that you could share that template with me as well. I have been thrown into a migration project and any advice and tools would be great!

Here I am. I can talk a lot but perhaps the most interesting thing is: between people that we have to migrate were CIO, CFO, VP, etc etc. I meant top level management. To say that people "hello, you will not use your computer by a day - or hours" was a challenge, believe me.

Thanks for the post Sergio. How long did it take to upgrade each executive's device? Are they all PCs or did you have a mixture of thick and thin clients?
A major first step that we are doing is to migrate as many users as possible to thin clients. Then we will just push out a new thin client at golive
Users need to have a solid technical reason that they cannot use a thin client. If the C-suite think that they need thick clients, I intend to send the CIO to have a chat with them. :)

I too am interested in lessons learned, best practices, a template or method, etc. as I'm just getting involved in a Win10 upgrade project.

I found some stuff on the web, for those who are interested:

Hi Robert, Although there were many changes required to bring underlying infrastructure, tools and software up to date, I'd say the biggest change was to how Windows 10 is serviced. The Windows as a Service model means that the organization has to have a team that can take on the (likely) annual updates to Win 10 devices, the testing of critical or important apps prior to the updates being pushed, tracking all of that testing, etc. For a large install footprint like ours, that can be quite an ask. It also means that the handover to ops has to happen early in the deployments (or before starting) vs. near the end as we'd normally see on a project.

Well, it depends on your company strategy. In our case, CEO and VP was involved then information they manage requires a special treatment where thing client is not recommendatble, at least in our case.
