The PEP as the Project Execution Plan is a term used by the Independent Project Analysis Consortium (IPA) which is a consortium of Project Owner Companies. The PEP is literally what it says the plan of how to execute my project, typically in the stage gate process. A project could be one of the stages or the final stage where a capital facility is built. It is in a sense the same as the Project Management Plan as per PMBok of PMI. Saving Changes...

Very interesting discussion, thank you! Saving Changes...
In fact, the nomenclature is very clear, the PMP is the way how to manage the project (higher level plan), while the PEP is the methodology of how to execute the project with the necessary tools, techniques, delivery methods, materials and manpower (detailed plan). Saving Changes...

Re: "Project Management Plan and Project Execution Plan"
a. PMP: What contractually is required; and,
b. PEP: How we intend to do the work.
Of course, each has a bit more detail.

in fact, in the industrial projects such as oil and gas and steel factory , water desalination plant and .... clients ask EPCC contrcator for prepare, submit a project execution plan to show how project will be executed with focusing and attention to time, cost, quality, change, risk, HR, defining clear responsibilities for clients, EPCC Contractor, Third Party Inspection and subcontracts and vendors. HSE is important in this document. for better management client ask Engineering execution plan, procurement execution plan, construction execution plan, commissioning execution plan, Project quality plan and HSE Plan.
this document will be issued parallel to Schedule, CBS, WBS.
client will judge this document for monitoring quality of project execution and better results in overall Saving Changes...

Re: "What is the difference between this two types of Plan? I always thought they are the plan named differently"
Interesting responses with most nailing it.
What might add more value to this post is to address the operational behaviors of the managers of the project and the leaders of the organization within which the project sits.

In essence, strategy provides the vision and framework for what needs to be achieved, while implementation focuses on executing the plan to realize that vision. Effective project management requires both a solid strategy and a robust implementation plan to ensure project success. Saving Changes...

Vincenzo,
since it came from a job description and seems not a standardized term, it is a perfect example to ask a question in an interview.
Did you ask chatgpt? It says:
Project Execution Plan (PEP)
The Project Execution Plan is a document that focuses specifically on the execution phase of the project. It details how the project work will be performed and managed. Key elements typically include:
Execution Strategy: Describes how the project will be carried out, including the methodologies, processes, and tools that will be used.
Roles and Responsibilities: Specifies who will perform which tasks and how team members and stakeholders will interact.
Schedule and Resources: Lays out timelines, key milestones, and resource allocation.
Quality and Compliance: Details the standards and regulations that must be adhered to during project execution.
Risk Management: Identifies potential risks and their mitigation strategies.
A Project Management Plan is focused on strategy, describing how the project will be initiated, executed, controlled, and closed. The project Execution plan is focused on technical aspects, centered on guidelines, policies, and procedures that show the team how to complete the work.
