What are you view on career Coach? For you or a team member?

Do you believe it is good early in your career? or later to keep improving?

When have you used on? How did you identify the right coach for you?

How did you perceive benefit from it?

Sure, nice post.
A sponsor is usually a key senior leader in the organization with strong influence that you work with for high visibility assignments, promotions or jobs. Sponsors usually select the PMs for highly visible or critical projects.

Naomi,

I never consider a Sponsor for Coaching, not that they don't have the knowledge. I have worked with many a few had the quality to be a coach, but that is my experience.
Thanks for the clarification

I always feel 'Peer Coaching' is more effective then simple Coach & Coachee (don't know if this is right word). You just need to identify someone at your level (a peer) whom you coach & who coaches you. More than coaching,This relationship help you see each of your problems/obstacles from different way. Peer coach does not answer the question. But they ask you some question to help you get the answers of your questions.

Mohmedsakil,

I like the idea of peer coach. Similar to Professional Codevelopment if you know about it.

It's good to understand the benefits and roles of each type. In the sponsor relationship it's the sponsor that drives the relationship and is usually a C-Suite or Executive team assignment to groom a future leader within the organization. Depending on the organization it can also be initiated by the mentee or cohort; it's a win win. No one should limited themselves to choosing one or more of these valuable relationships; what might work for one person may not work for another.
