I am mentoring a group of students - future potential project managers and I would like to put out the following questions to you:
What are in your opinion the main challenges of managing a project?
Are there any absolutes that they have to look out for?
Do you have a tool kit or a template that you use to help you manage your projects?
Would love to have your input on this.
Thanks Saving Changes...

Challenges:-
Different stakeholders have very different perspectives and levels of engagement with your project compared to others. The challenge for you, as a Project Manager, is to bring them all on the journey and show them how your project will provide benefits to them - directly or indirectly.
Information and Communication needs of all your stakeholders are different and you need to tailor your communication such that - communication is timely , communication is not missed, communication is targeted.
If the project fails you are in the firing line as the Project Manager. If it succeeds , then you are the hero. Make sure that in both cases, you share it with the team.
Understand that the Project Manager does not deliver the project , the team does. Saving Changes...

As for toolkits, I suggest communications and leadership as a starting point. Saving Changes...
