I have expertise in MS Project and looking into assessing Primavera as a tool.
What are the differences in terms of user friendliness, flexibility, reporting, resource management and mapping, and other features?

I have an opportunities to use (and implement) both tools on organisational level in different industries. For low-medium schedule maturity MSP and P6 could be use as a scheduling tool. Each of them have own advantages (and limitation) but in the most cases work around exists in another tool as well.
On another hand if an organisation (or portfolio) wants to have really mature scheduling level each tool have serious constrains and need carefully consider not just what each tool can do but also what tool can't do. Including not just technical aspects but also soft areas as integration with other applications (email, financial, BI tool, etc) and usability and even resource market as it could be difficult to find PMs with P6 skills.

Thank you for sharing your experience Keith
Number of activities handled are lesser in MSP compared to Primavera, Both are data entry driven no real time data integration mostly.

These tools have similar features. It is interesting if some of your requirements are not met by MS Project, If such exist we can discuss if Primavera or some other tool can do what you need.

Oracle Primavera Cloud (a.k.a Prime) offers the power of P6 EPPM and P6 Professional. They also added additional features that are very helpful to IT projects (Scope Management, Lean, Risk management, …) You can build your project structure using legacy (WBS/Activities) structure or use Work Packages, Scope Items, Work Plans, etc… It really gives you a lot of flexibility.
