What name in English do you use for your governance meeting in your project?
In French we talk about :
- COPROJ (Comité Projet) for any operational project meeting (weekly basis),
- COPIL (Comité de pilotage) for decisional project meeting (monthly basis) and
- CODIR (Comité de Direction) for the general Management meeting, can be any subject including Directors interest (weekly basis in my company)
If I use:
- PROCO (Project Committee) for any operational project meeting (weekly basis),
- STEERCO (Steering Committee) for decisional project meeting (monthly basis) and
- EMC (Executive Management Committee) for the general Management meeting, can be any subject including Directors interest.
- BOARD Meeting for the shareholders meeting.
= Am I correct? If not what name will you use?
Thanks in advance for your help

For us, Governance means take decisions on the project not a follow up. The names we use are:
- STEERCO (Steering Committee) for decisional project meeting (monthly basis) and
- EMC (Executive Management Committee) for the general Management meeting, can be any subject including Directors interest.
Depending on the Tier of the project (our own clasification) we have bi-weekly meetings with SteerCo and montly meetings with EMC. No matter that, project managers publish a one-page status report each week.

I used

- Project Status Meeting for weekly project progress, owned by project manager
- Project Steering Committee, for monthly project status and decision making, owned by the project sponsor

There can be a plethora of other regular meetings depending on the size of the project. I had quarterly planning meetings, rehearsal meetings for steering committees, stage gate meetings, monthly contractor meetings, weekly team gatherings (to work on team cohesion), townhall/allhands meetings for the wider stakeholder community and debriefings (e.g. lessons learned, retrospectives). My advice is to install debriefings otherwise it is much harder to improve and learn.

Board meetings, executive meetings and others were outside the project governance, though there might be the occasional need to report to them (stakeholder engagement).

With the Canadian bank I used to support we had:

- ESC (Executive Steering Committee meetings)
- DRB (Delivery Review Board meetings)
- PIC (Portfolio Investment Committee meetings)
- SPC (Segment Project Challenge meetings)

We also had "Signing parties" which were regularly scheduled events for key executive stakeholders to come together to sign off on critical documents.

And as Thomas said, this was over and above the myriad of other meetings, events & ceremonies.

Thanks a lot for your replies :-)
In our company we created a Project Governance team to challenge projects and make sure projects are managed correctly. We used to have too many projects without a valdiated scope, budget, etc. We are like a "light" Project Management Office :-).
We use COPROJ/COPIL in project governance. EMC is only once a month to review the company portfolio, to present the project framework (only for new project or if major changes) and to validate budget/resources a COPIL couldn't validate itself.
As I am translating all our support documents in English I was looking for the perfect name :-)
