What name in English do you use for your governance meeting in your project?
In French we talk about :
- COPROJ (Comité Projet) for any operational project meeting (weekly basis),
- COPIL (Comité de pilotage) for decisional project meeting (monthly basis) and
- CODIR (Comité de Direction) for the general Management meeting, can be any subject including Directors interest (weekly basis in my company)
If I use:
- PROCO (Project Committee) for any operational project meeting (weekly basis),
- STEERCO (Steering Committee) for decisional project meeting (monthly basis) and
- EMC (Executive Management Committee) for the general Management meeting, can be any subject including Directors interest.
- BOARD Meeting for the shareholders meeting.
= Am I correct? If not what name will you use?
Thanks in advance for your help

Dear Caroline,

I think you need to define the term Governance, Oversight and Management and how that applies to you own organizational structure.

Governance would be on the top tier of hierarchy and would consist of the most senior people involved with the project either at a senior government level, CEO, COO or CFO within a private organization. They would meet quarterly in relation to any aspects of the project that needs action.

Oversight would be more confined to committees and would consist of senior and middle managers and would meet monthly about aspects of the projects and other projects under their remit.

The term committee is normally confined to mid level and senior management and would still require another level of management before a final decision is made.

Project Management, project/portfolio/program manager would be directly responsible for the day to day management of the project team and the project. They would be called to meet with oversight committee but not necessarily with the Governance group of individuals.

The larger and more complex the project the more additional layers of hierarchy you have to go through in order to get decisions made.
