Hi Peers,

I just got my PMP and really glad to be part of this elite group.

Currently, I'm leading a project where I have little to no experience in the project domain and I'm relying on the SME's in the team to help me understand as well as to take some important decisions.

Though I'm getting enough support from my team this lack of project domain knowledge affects me a lot and hindering to act independent.

I'm sure some of you here would have handled projects in new domains and would like to know from your experience on how you handled. What best practices you followed?

In parallel I'm studying to get some basic technical knowledge on the new domain but it's not helping me immediately

Thank you.

You should concentrate on the Project Management knowledge: processes, principles, and project performance domains. Get the support of expert professionals on your team to tailor the strategies according to the project, through work meetings, where your abilities can be combined to benefit the project.
Taking a course that informs you of a general panorama of the theme can also help, and later you can dive deeper acquiring more knowledge on the specific area, while the project advances.
