Greetings!

I'm having trouble differentiating between a steering committee and a PMO.

From what I read, it appears they have similar roles and responsibilities. Are they the same thing...?

Steering committees are focused on making decisions, being a senior escalation point and help define success criteria / alignment. Its a group of cross-functional leaders.

A PMO is a separate body that can focus on bringing value in lots of different ways with a project lends. A steering committee can also live within a PMO if need be.
