Is there a project information framework?

I work for a company that’s looking to get more meaningful insights from their projects’ disparate work activities and insights. Currently, we have a hard time correlating information from analysis efforts, development logs, and other lifecycle artifacts. 



For instance: we’ll do various forms of analysis like PESTLE, SWOT, and Gap or Feasibility. These generate information for our projects, but our teams struggle to agree on a  unified and structured approach to build on this information between teams as the project moves from one stage to another. Basically, what we learn goes into requirements, but not everything is captured and not everything fits as a requirement. 



Is there a project information framework to help with this that is also collaborative, flexible, and is not specific to any one type of project?

Good question, Jim.
I haven't seen a widely used framework for project information, but having worked for IBM, we used a simple structure for our PCB (project control book). Based on this, I introduced a structure through the PMO recently for a client:
Keep it simple, nobody wants to search for documents in a complicated multilevel file structure. Use a tool - if you can - with overall search capability (I am waiting for an AI tool). A common standard is helpful if your team members work on different projects. Create document name standards. Ensure access permissions.



Here is an example I used:
01 Meetings SteerCo, Internal Meetings, Agendas, Meeting Minutes, Contact List, Orgchart, Communication Plan
02 Schedule & Effort Baselines schedule, budget(efforts), PMP (processes), milestones, external dependencies
03 Actions / Decisions Action Tracker, Open Point List, escalation management
04 External Support SOW, RfP, decision criteria/matrix, Proposals, Contracts, Assignments(Orders), deliveries, quality checks,
05 Actuals, Monitoring & Reporting Status reports, effort tracking (internal/external)
06 Change Management Project CRs, Project Change Log, Change Control Board Meetings/Decisions
07 Project Scope scope (deliverables list, WBS, scope statement), Requirements register/backlog, pre-project results (business case, SOW), Project Mgmt Plan (Processes), acceptance criteria,/DoD, acceptance letters
08 Project Risks Risk Register, Contingency Plans
09 Financials (restricted) Budgets/rates in €, invoices, plan/actuals in Euro, CRs
10 Stakeholders (restricted) Stakeholder Analysis Engagement Plan

What you stated is mainly related to business analysis. Just to talk about my personal working experience from years I worked in companies where the key thing was to create a knowledge management system (system, not software system) using the available technology. Today, with the existence of generative AI this is "more easy". So, my recommendation, is thinking creating an initiative to develop a knowledge management system. Today, based on generative AI. Mainly because it will help to maintain the knowledge and to create all needed as outcome including your own deliverables end-to-end covering business analysis and project management work.
