Constraints inspire creativity so long as the constraints are realistic and the PM does a good job of cultivating psychological safety within the team.

Great point! I completely agree—realistic constraints combined with psychological safety can create the perfect environment for innovation and out-of-the-box thinking.

I always recommend starting small - defining proofs of concept for experimentation, so that one could "show" the results and RoI of their innovative ideas. There is also some art in "show and tell." Once potential sponsors are bought into the vision and see the value, then the constraints can be relaxed a little, allowing for next wave of build, and so on....
