Should PMI consider vertical integration by partnering with or acquiring companies that offer complementary tools or services?

PMI's recent horizontal integrations, including the acquisitions of Disciplined Agile and Agile Alliance, have expanded its reach in the project management ecosystem by incorporating agile methodologies and frameworks.

However, one could think of vertical integration (e.g. acquiring or partnering with project management software providers, training platforms, or consulting firms) to allow PMI to strengthen its value chain, enhance service delivery, and offer end-to-end solutions for project management professionals. Do you think that this approach would further solidify PMI's position in the industry?

I'd argue PMI has already overstepped its original boundaries by directly competing in the PM training space. Further such integration would not be an appropriate move for what is supposed to be an agnostic association.

Agreed. I've encountered many who see project management certification as just a money grab, and further integrations by PMI would only strengthen this opinion.
