Be honest—how many times have you filled out a "Lessons Learned" template only to never see it again? 🙈

I’ve been there too. But when I led transformation projects at Venus Fashion, we made a shift. We treated lessons learned not as a checkbox, but as a catalyst.

💡 We held live retrospectives—with executives present
💡 We identified patterns and embedded fixes into future workflows
💡 We created team-wide action items—and actually followed up

It wasn't perfect, but it meant our next project was always smarter than the last.

👉 How does your team make lessons learned… stick?
Do you have a process that works—or are you still searching for one?

Let’s swap stories. What’s helped you turn hindsight into foresight?

Great topic,Amanda Harris! We’ve also shifted from just documenting to actually using lessons learned. A quick team huddle post-project, followed by sharing key takeaways across teams, really helped us avoid repeat mistakes. It’s all about turning insights into action. Thanks for starting this important conversation!

I have frequently written about this and did a webinar on this platform for it a few years back - the one learning which is often missed is too ensure there is a culture of psychological safety within the stakeholder group which is surfacing improvement ideas so that there is a willingness to speak and to experiment.

Absolutely agree! An environment that provides psychological safety is critical for facilitating the type of communication that drives real results!
