I would like to ask you for your recommendation on utilizing translation tools and technology for a project in Asia. In my experience, Microsoft Teams features such as message translation, live captions, and PowerPoint Live translation can result in inaccurate or mechanical translations, particularly when industry-specific terms are involved.

For this project, there is a need to translate documents, presentations, meeting agendas, notes, and discussions from project meetings. Additionally, due to security concerns, ChatGPT cannot be used.

Thank you!
Maria

Maria,Given your security constraints with ChatGPT, I'd recommend looking into two specific avenues:Google's Gemini and Grokq.

just to clarify: is the restriction limited to ChatGPT specifically, or does it apply to all generative AI tools?

Regards! Francisco

You need to set up a common language. English is the common language up to date. No matter we like it. In the future, if you like to make predictions as I like , Chinese could be.

Well, even if translations were accurate, there will be misunderstandings based on cultural differences.
I had good experiences with employing a local with a high sense of responsibility and asking him/her to minimize communication gaps.

Thanks for your question, Maria. For industry-specific translations with high accuracy and security concerns, I recommend using specialized professional translation software like SDL Trados or memoQ—they offer terminology management and support offline use for better data security. Additionally, involving bilingual team members for review helps catch nuances that automated tools might miss. For real-time meetings, platforms like Zoom with built-in interpreters or dedicated human interpreters might be more reliable than automated captions.

While translation technologies and workflows—such as TMS platforms, CAT tools, and human post-editing—can significantly improve linguistic accuracy and consistency, they cannot substitute the value of cultural insight. Misunderstandings often arise not from language alone but from differing communication norms, business etiquette, hierarchy expectations, and decision-making styles, especially across diverse regions in Asia.

Hi Maria,

Thanks for raising this important point. You're absolutely right, while tools like Microsoft Teams offer convenient translation features, they can struggle with accuracy, especially when dealing with technical or industry-specific language.

For a project with such comprehensive translation needs and strict security requirements, I’d recommend exploring enterprise-grade translation solutions that offer both customizable glossaries and secure environments. A few options to consider:

SDL Trados or memoQ: These are CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) tools that allow for terminology management and consistent translation across documents.
Microsoft Translator Hub: If staying within the Microsoft ecosystem is preferred, this allows for custom translation models tailored to your domain.
On-premise translation solutions: For maximum security, some companies opt for deploying translation software locally to avoid cloud-based risks.

Additionally, working with professional translation services that specialize in your industry might be worthwhile for meetings and critical documents. Many offer secure platforms and can integrate with your workflow.

Best regards,
Philip
