As AI assistants handle emails, updates, and meeting summaries, the “human touch” in stakeholder management may diminish. Should PMs reframe engagement strategies to preserve empathy and trust?

AI is just a tool, but empathy and trust come from the human heart. While AI can handle routine communication, things such as judgment, context, and relationships remain in the hands of PMs. Rather than reframing engagement strategies to preserve the human touch, PMs should use AI to free up time and energy to lead with empathy and strengthen trust where it matters most.

I think PMs should integrate their personal touch, communication style, empathy and trust with stakeholders and team members by their choice of words even when they use AI to write emails, updates and meeting summaries.
AI tools helps PMs perform their tasks better, while PMs should not forget the receiver is a person whom they interact with frequently. Having virtual and in-person conversations, meetings and discussions will help them demonstrate their personality and build stronger partnerships with stakeholders and colleagues.

Hello Lissette Indhira Pimentel Sosa
your question is very important
I believe that Artificial intelligence is not an adequate replacement for individuals or project team members; rather, it is a valuable tool. Although it is not regarded as an actual project member and does not take the place of direct human communication with stakeholders, a project manager can use it to help with stakeholder management, such as observing how involved they are with the work, collecting feedback, and helping team members in their tasks.

Not at all. To simplify, everything can be understood with 3 key components: process, tool, people. Tools support the process which is executed by people. So, what changed is the tool and, depending on how the process was defined, some adjustments to the process should be made. It is very important to understand what AI really is do not fail.

Thanks for the insights. I’m aligned with what many of you shared: AI changes the medium, not the responsibility. Routine communication can be supported by AI, but trust, context, and relationships still depend on deliberate human interaction. For PMs, the focus shifts to being more intentional about where and how we show up with stakeholders.

Prioritize transparency and responsiveness, it is imperative to ensure AI tools facilitate meaningful interactions while preserving a human touch. Additionally, a strong emphasis should be placed on gathering feedback to foster continuous improvement of the AI interface and effectively address stakeholders' concerns.
