Hello everyone,

I wanted to start a discussion about how Letter Boxed–style problem solving connects surprisingly well with project management practices.

In the Letter Boxed puzzle, players must connect letters from different sides while respecting specific rules. You can’t just focus on one move — you have to think ahead, reuse outcomes efficiently, and plan the next step before finishing the current one. This feels very similar to managing projects where constraints, dependencies, and limited resources shape every decision.

Some clear parallels I’ve noticed:

  • Planning multiple steps ahead before execution
  • Working within fixed constraints (scope, time, budget)
  • Finding creative solutions when options are limited
  • Optimizing results with minimal moves or resources

Letter Boxed encourages structured thinking and adaptability — two skills every project manager relies on daily. Using puzzle-based exercises like this could even be a fun way to train teams in strategic thinking and collaborative problem solving.

I’ve been exploring this concept further here:

Do you think gamified thinking or puzzle-based approaches can help improve planning skills or team decision-making in real projects? I’d really like to hear how others apply creative thinking methods in project management.

It could be a good tool for our toolbox.
