I am preparing my PMP application and have managed several government-led initiatives with defined objectives, timelines, deliverables, stakeholders, resources and measurable outcomes.
For example, I led a Beyond Bengaluru – Regional Ecosystem & Investment Development project involving regional investment facilitation, stakeholder management, policy/incentive coordination and ecosystem development. The project had a defined lifecycle and resulted in 9 regional cluster events, 30+ companies supported, ₹5+ crore in incentives/policy support facilitated and 2,000+ jobs contributed.
I also managed a statewide startup acceleration cohort with defined start/end dates, startup selection and onboarding, mentor and industry engagement, investor connects, cohort activities, monitoring and closure.
My question is: would PMI consider this type of experience as project management experience, provided I clearly document my personal responsibilities across initiating, planning, executing, monitoring/controlling and closing, rather than describing the broader programme or operational activities?
I would particularly appreciate guidance from anyone who has had similar government, economic development, ecosystem-building or startup programme experience accepted in a PMP application.
